# Roadie > Roadie is an automatic audio device switcher for macOS. It keeps the Mac's default microphone and speakers on the highest-priority connected devices selected by the user. Canonical website: https://roadieformac.com/ Roadie is a macOS 13 or later menu bar utility for Apple silicon and Intel. Current version: 0.9.9 early access. Price: $9.99 one-time purchase after a full 7-day trial. One license covers up to 3 Macs with lifetime updates. Automatic routing is hard-blocked after trial expiry; settings are retained. A successfully verified entitlement has a 24-hour offline grace. Download: https://roadieformac.com/downloads/Roadie.zip It maintains separate priority lists for microphone input and speaker or headphone output, selects the highest-ranked connected device after connects, disconnects, wake-ups, and login, respects a manual device choice until the connected device set changes, lets users avoid devices that macOS should not select automatically, gives Bluetooth devices additional settling time during reconnects, and stops after three correction attempts if another app keeps changing the device. Audio routing rules, raw device names, and audio-device identity remain local. Trial validation sends a pseudonymous device hash and app version to Roadie's trial service; the service returns and stores the immutable trial timestamps. License actions send the entered key and a generic activation ID to Dodo Payments or Roadie's scoped management endpoint. The app never captures or processes audio and needs no microphone permission. The app has no accounts and stores preferences locally. The app has one third-party dependency, Sparkle, for signed in-app updates; everything else is Swift and Apple frameworks. The current build is not notarized and requires a one-time macOS first-launch confirmation. Website analytics are separate from the Mac app. Vercel Web Analytics is always on, using no cookies and no cross-site identifiers. Google Analytics only loads after visitor consent. Install: download and unzip Roadie, move Roadie.app to Applications, open Roadie once, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. macOS blocks the first launch because the build is not notarized yet. ## Pages - [Changelog](https://roadieformac.com/changelog/): Complete numbered public release history, with new features, improvements, and fixes - [Product, features, FAQ, and download](https://roadieformac.com/): Landing page with the demo, pricing, and install steps - [About](https://roadieformac.com/about/): Maker identity and commercial contract - [Privacy](https://roadieformac.com/privacy/): Local routing data, trial, license, and analytics disclosures - [Support](https://roadieformac.com/support/): Setup, troubleshooting, and contact - [Terms](https://roadieformac.com/terms/): License, trial, and consumer terms ## Guides - [Mac keeps switching the microphone](https://roadieformac.com/guides/mac-keeps-switching-microphone/): Why macOS re-picks the default mic and how to stop it - [Mac audio output keeps changing](https://roadieformac.com/guides/mac-audio-output-keeps-changing/): Display speakers, docks, and AirPods taking over output - [Roadie vs AudioPriorityBar vs SoundLock vs SoundSource](https://roadieformac.com/guides/mac-audio-device-switcher-comparison/): Honest comparison of the four Mac audio device switchers - [Roadie vs AudioPriorityBar](https://roadieformac.com/guides/roadie-vs-audiopriority-bar/): Head-to-head against the free MIT-licensed priority app - [Roadie vs SoundSource](https://roadieformac.com/guides/roadie-vs-soundsource/): Device priority against Rogue Amoeba's $49 per-app audio suite - [AudioPriorityBar alternatives](https://roadieformac.com/guides/audiopriority-bar-alternatives/): Six Mac apps that keep audio devices in place, free and paid - [Best Mac mic switcher for podcasters](https://roadieformac.com/guides/best-mac-mic-switcher-for-podcasters/): Keeping the right microphone during a recording ## Optional - [SHA-256 checksum](https://roadieformac.com/downloads/Roadie.zip.sha256): Checksum for the current download - [Guides index](https://roadieformac.com/guides/): List of all guides
